How did y’all figure out what speciality you want to do?

I’m almost done with the first semester of M1 and I’m still clueless. The problem is that if I want to do anything remotely competitive, I need to start getting my shit together to dedicate my summers to research.

I feel like I have no time to figure anything out and I’m worried about pigeonholing myself into a specialty I don’t even know if I’ll like.
