Dysplastic Nevus / Abnormal Mole Concern
Hello, I hope you're doing well :)
I am a 24 year old light skinned hispanic male, and I am concerned about this mole next to my ear. I am already booking an appointment with a dermatologist, but I wanna know you guys' opinions anyway as well.
This mole appeared in my early adulthood, or at least I hadn't been aware of it since a few years ago. My uncle had melanoma, though I have no other known family history of skin cancer. I don't use sunscreen but don't get particularly high exposure to sunlight either. The nevus is around 4 mm in diameter, has slight elevation and a hair follicle. It is slightly assymetrical, even if it looks roughly round and borders are irregular. Colour doesn't have extreme variation, but it is not homogeneous, with the central area with the ragged borders being darker, and then a lighter brown areola appears around it, fading into the surrounding skin without that clear of a border. It is also the only mole in my body with an elevation. The mole doesnt itch, bleed or ooze, but can become irritated. Nearby lymph nodes in neck and head don't feel inflamed. As for changes, people around me tell me it looks the same as always, but I personally perceive it might have become slightly larger and/or darker in the last year.
The mole looks normal at a glance, and most people around me tell me its normal and that I'm overthinking it, but I'm getting it checked anyway for peace of mind. I know no online check can give a clear answer just wanna know your opinion on the rough likelihood of this being melanoma considering my description and the pic, and if it were, what stage it would likely be
