Research in general topology

Do you consider general topology "dead" as a research area? I am not a mathematician, and taking a guess by looking at what professors at big universities are doing, I can see that at the very least is not "hot", or very active. But, how active is it really? If you consider is not dead, what are the current research trends? If you think it is dead, what are some adjacent fields that aren't?
