Anything else to check before trashing?

A2337 late 2020 model, bought new 2yrs ago. Son was using it (plugged in and charging) and it just shut off on him and won’t turn back on. Tried holding down buttons (research from here) and disconnecting the battery and it didn’t work. Local (non apple) shop wants 100 just to look and even said it’s likely the logic board. I don’t care to spend 400+ on a repair for an almost 5yr old machine when I new one is 800 (on sale).

Before I break down and buy a new one does anyone know of anything else I can try?
