2024 - My year of luxurycandles
Here's my story:
About 5 years ago, my wife bought a Myrrh candle from BBW. I loved the scent and looked for it every time I was back at that mall, but it never reappeared. Then in 2023 we went on vacation to Germany and we passed by this store that I've never heard of called "Diptyque." She goes in and comes out with a fancy bag containing Myrrhe. I was excited to smell it, but honestly my first reaction was, "you paid how much for this candle?" Over the winter, after burning the candle for many special occasions, I fell in love with the scent. It was an amazing feeling every time I caught a whiff of the cold throw or lit the candle for a few hours. I thought to myself, well now I would definitely pay a few dollars for this experience on a regular basis. Also since there is no Diptyque in my city, and I'm not into blind buying on the Internet it would be a nice gift for myself when I travel for work.
In early 2024, I bought my own first 2 candles from Diptyque: another Myrrhe and Cannelle. After getting home with my new candles, I began to wonder... Is Diptyque the top brand in candles? That question ultimately led me to this community and down a long rabbit hole. Turns out a local department store sells a limited selection of Trudon and Acqua di Parma. Also, Nest can be found everywhere. Everything else was bought while traveling or gifted from friends.
Thank you everyone on this subreddit for your insights. May you all receive the candles you wished for under the tree this year.
