Akkan Alts 5x3

To those with an Akkan alt (or multiple), how many of your alts are 5x3+1 and do you recommend it? Currently, my Akkan alts are all 5x3, full lvl 7 gems. Curious what the consensus to see if I should work on my alts builds or just full hoard gold to get gems on main.
