Should I Use Mix Bus Compression for Function Gigs?
I have a duo with a guitarist. I sing and play keys, and I also use pre-produced backing tracks, which mainly include drumbeats, bass, and sometimes backing vocals.
We mostly perform at corporate events and weddings, and we try to keep our technical setup as simple as possible. We use two active „db“ speakers and a „SOUNDCRAFT Signature 12 MTK“ mixer. Most of the time, we handle the mixing ourselves, using an initial mix that stays pretty much the same for the next two hours.
As I’ve been improving my mixing skills in my DAW, I’m wondering if I should start considering mix bus compression for live performances.
What do you guys think? Would it be beneficial for these types of gigs? And if yes, can you recommend any good hardware compressors?
