I finally got burned by anti-cheat. Official Linux support may be worse than none.

It finally happened. I didn't care about anti-cheat because I don't play multi-player games. I even just built a new high end gaming desktop and skipped the Windows license entirely.

And then Infinity Nikki came out. I really want to play it, but even though it is single player, it blocks Linux ...except not completely.

It seems the developers white listed the Steam Deck even though the game isn't even available on Steam. If you try playing on any other distro the game refuses to run.

With SteamOS coming to more devices soon, I hope other developers don't take this path. It would be super frustrating for Linux to finally catch on only for official support to become something like "SteamOS and Ubuntu LTS only."

EDIT: not looking for tech support. I know how to Google. There are other Reddit threads discussing the subject. This particular game appears to be looking for the specific Steam Deck hardware. The point of this post is about the potential precedent this sets.
