MDS-HLH-AML
Dad was pretty healthy at least his annual check up records say so until he lost consciousness in Aug all the sudden. He was in the hospital for about 10days got diagnosed for MDS. Then after his first Chemotherapy he has high fever on off for almost 3 weeks then the doctor told us my dad got diagnosed HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) he was in pretty bad shape by then but fortunately he overcame it after doctor started the HLH treatment (8-10 weeks steroid) a week after his first HLH treatment in Oct, he started his second chemotherapy. Fever again after chemo but manageable. My dad was discharged to a rehab center a week before Thanksgiving but then readmitted to the hospital after 3 days due to fever. On thanksgiving day, the doctor told us he’s critically diagnosed AML because his white blood count rapidly increasing. They gave him hydrea in order to control the cell growing then started 3rd chemo (high dose) because that’s the seems like the only way to treat him by the time. we visited dad every other day and he was still good on Sunday 12/8. On 12/9 morning dad has difficulty of breathing then move into ICU the afternoon. Visited My dad on 12/10 2pm and talk to the medical team about his status and scheduled a meeting with the team on 12/11 afternoons which we family think dad may possibly made it out of ICU soon or later. Then on 12/10 8pm I received a call from ICU doctor asking us if we want to go to the hospital because they’re performing CPR on my dad due to dropped pulse and heart failure he’s not looking good. We immediately fleeted out the door. dad passed away our half way to the hospital. we’re still in shock because everything happened so quick and we don’t have a chance to say goodbye.
