Has anyone had Nissan buy there car back after battery capacity warranty claim?

We hit 8 bars yesterday and visited the dealership today to schedule an appointment for them to verify the claim. The service tech mentioned it’ll take a long time to get a replacement battery (possibly a year) and that Nissan occasionally offers to buy the car back. Our car’s current range is still tolerable, so we can wait for a battery, but if Nissan’s offer is good, maybe it would be best to upgrade? The tech mentioned it costs Nissan $18K for the replacement, so could we expect an offer around that price point? That’s probably hilariously optimistic, but has anyone had experience with the buyback situation? How’d it go?
