Nissan wants to buy my car back

I have a '17 30kwh leaf that has the battery degraded so I'm getting it replaced. The order should have been placed in early Dec but I just got an email from Nissan saying they want to buy my car back. Has anyone experienced this? I replied to the email that I'm not really interested. They'd have to give me enough to buy a '18 or newer leaf to be worth it in my opinion. Hopefully I only have to wait two more months before the battery comes in.
