Help me understand Venice Bitch
Don’t get me wrong, I am not coming for this song. I totally hear how sonically beautiful it is and I recognize it as a bold and experimental move by her that paid off. But I have to say, I don’t completely understand people calling it her best work.
I guess I see Lana as a real poet and lyricist, and the songs I would call her best have words that cut deeper for me. I don’t really see this song as the best representation of her as an artist, which I know is subjective. I genuinely want to know what I’m missing that makes Venice Bitch what some call her magnum opus! Is it just the pure atmosphere of it? The use of sound and instruments in a way not usually seen in pop? The simplicity but sweetness of the words? Is there a story I’m not reading? Thank you if you chime in!
