Why do people think low-carb diets are unsustainable?
I’ve been doing a low-carb diet (not strict keto, just cutting way down on carbs) for about two months now, and I feel AMAZING. More energy, fewer crashes, better focus. I don’t miss the constant bloating and brain fog from eating a ton of bread, pasta, and sugar.
But every time I bring it up with friends, coworkers, or even online, I get the same response: “Low-carb isn’t sustainable. You’ll crave carbs and eventually give in.” Or, “You need carbs to stay healthy.” I get it, carbs are everywhere, and they’re tasty blah blah. But how is this any less sustainable than calorie counting or cutting out processed foods?
To me, it feels more manageable to just skip the carb-heavy stuff than to constantly track every calorie I eat. I’d love to hear from people who’ve stuck with low-carb long-term. does it actually get harder over time? Or is this just something people say because they don’t want to imagine life without pizza and donuts?
Curious to hear your thoughts. Why do low-carb diets trigger so many skeptics?
