Prosecutor using jurors names

I was selected to report to jury duty. During jury selection the prosecutor called the potential jurors by their names and not by the numbers assigned to them for security reasons, not once but 3 times! In succession, each time the judge warned him not to do that yet he would call the next potential juror by name. It was a Capital Murder case with the defendant present, we were all in full view of the Defendant. Does that seem extremely odd to anybody else?
