Random NY/NJ question

Do ppl from North Jersey and NY consider themselves like the same thing? I only ask cause I know Joe,Ice and Ish are from Jersey but if you didn't know you might think theyre from New York becuase they say "we" all the time and they got super offended when Keith Lee rated restaurants and I hear Joe say alot as a New Yorker.
