Has anyone had/knows anything about cheekbone osteotomies? (Zygomatic ost, malarplasty)
Hi,
This doesn't seem to get discussed a lot and I wonder why. Basically what I'm talking about is a similar process as we get with BSSO or Lefort procedures, but with the cheekbones.
There's one called the sandwich zygomatic osteotomy whereby the the zygomatic bone is cut and repositioned laterally, giving a wider cheek appearance. There is also a similar thing for the malar bone.
Given that there's quite a pushback against implants on the forum, has anyone had a procedure like this? They seem to be uncommon and I'm not sure why. Given the lack of effect DJS has on the midface area, you would've thought this would be a popular proceedure. Thoughts?
Thanks!
