Questions and translation help!
Hi all, my partner and I are headed to Istanbul soon and we’re very excited! We’ve never been and can’t wait to explore and get to know your city. I have a couple questions, and a request if someone could help translate a couple phrases that are important for health reasons.
Some questions: - We got a hotel in Sultanahmet because we only have 3 full days, and the convenience of the neighborhood seem led most important. We’re having some second thoughts, though, and see some wonderful places to stay in Galata. We’re more interested in seeing what there is to see than nightlife, but the vibe of Galata seems great. Does anyone have advice one way or the other? We certainly don’t mind walking/taking public transit, but we want to make the best of our time there.
How important is getting tickets in advance to attractions these days? I’ve read different things about whether they’re necessary.
What are some nice parts of town to just walk through? We have a long list of things to do, but we also enjoy a good park bench or a fun street.
What are the best services/apps for finding restaurants? Any other apps I should have ready to go?
Lastly, my partner has a severe nut allergy (all nuts and peanuts), and we anticipate this being a pretty constant concern when eating. Would anyone be willing to translate something along the lines of “does this food contain nuts? I am very allergic” into Turkish so we can have that prepared in case language barrier becomes a problem?
I appreciate everyone’s help!
