Time wasted - Teaching

I'm feeling a bit down with a while. I went back to college as a mature student at 29. Completed a 4 year teaching degree. Since qualifying, I have only managed to get yearly contracts (sometimes without Summer pay). This year however, all that was available was a short contract up until Christmas. I am currently unemployed.

So I guess I just feel like I have wasted the last 9 years of my life as I gave up a lot to get through the course, but here I am now with less than €2 in my current account and in financial difficulty. It's not where I imagined myself. I just feel if I had given 9 years at another job, I would have been better off.

I am going to start looking for General Operative jobs in a factory as I can't see my teaching degree being good for much else.

Please....no judgmental comment, It's not what I need right now.

Thanks for all your comments and feedback. I genuinely appreciate them all.

I probably should have given a bit more info, but really I just wanted to get this off my chest and didn't expect so many replies.

I worked for 10 years in construction prior to the degree, travelled 2hrs each way, 5 days a week for 4 academic years, and have tried my best to immerse myself into schools I was in as well as do extra curricular activities for the schools.I'm teach Post Primary, and in someways don't enjoy....I was going to say teaching, but really it is just crowd management on a daily basis. My goal is to get into Further Ed. I did it for one year and loved it. Moving abroad isn't really an option for us anymore I feel. I am married with kids also.
