Pencil Pro connects but won’t write in Notes

The pencil connects and will manipulate the screen, but will not write in the Apple Notes app. The same pencil writes perfectly fine and OneNote, does anybody know what is going on? This is the Apple Pencil Pro on an M4 iPad Pro 11 inch.
