What tiny bug is this?

I found a bunch of these minuscule bugs on my kitchen counter. They’re so small I had assumed they were dirt at first, but they were smearing when I wiped them, and looking closer I saw they were all these six-legged insects. Could they have come in with the old bouquet of flowers I have, or the compost?
