Got dumped within 10 days in work
Recently, McDonald’s India opened a new franchise in my area. On December 25th, I inquired about job vacancies, as I am a 20-year-old student with significant experience in cooking and the hotel industry. I expressed my desire to work there for personal expenses. The outlet manager interviewed me and mentioned that I would undergo a 10-day training period followed by a document submission process before officially joining.
I started my training on December 26th, during the busy end-of-year week when restaurants experience heavy crowds. I worked hard throughout the 10 days and completed my training. Afterward, I submitted all my documents, and they informed me it might take a few days to process them before I could begin working.
I waited an entire week for an update, but when I didn’t receive a call, I decided to visit the outlet to ask about the status of my application. To my dismay, they told me, “We don’t have any vacancies available for you now.” I felt incredibly disappointed and betrayed. It still weighs on my mind because there were 2-3 girls training alongside me who were hired despite being average and lacking knowledge of the hospitality industry. Conversely, I had worked diligently during my training, and the seniors praised my efforts, yet I was not hired and did not receive any payment for the 10 days I worked.
It felt as though I was used. I had planned to gift my mom a washing machine with my first salary, but now everything is in disarray, and I have to find work all over again.
