South East Asia Hyatt Family Vacation as Explorists

Spent three weeks traveling in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam staying in all Hyatts except the last few days in Hanoi. This was our first time staying in suites and getting club access, which was pretty awesome. Now I know what everyone means when they say the breakfast was amazing. I had the targeted offer for the 2x night credit right before the trip so was able to get the extra 10 nights too (might make Globalist this year).  Below is some feedback on a great trip.

Stayed two nights, booked a standard suite on points and applied a clubs access award

It was a last minute decision to stay here and we ended up booking a couple weeks before the rate went up. We booked the suite at 13k points a night and I believe it’s 20k now. They put us in a corner suite, the room was amazing. Walk in rainfall shower, soaking tub and amazing views of Bangkok from the whole suite. I chose the HR based on feedback from this sub and couldn’t be happier. The hotel is only about five years old.

I reserved a taxi through the hotel since it was our first stop after landing. I know it was more expensive but wanted to make sure no issues with the Grab (Asia’s Uber/Lyft) app. I was surprised when two days before arriving the assistant GM emailed me and asked if I had any special requests. I just asked for a rollaway bed. The taxi driver called the hotel when we were about to arrive. Upon arriving I thought they were going to bring me to a separate loyalty member counter for check in, but they brought us straight to the room and checked us in there, I never felt treated like VIP more, it was so awesome.

The rest of the stay was just as great. The food was amazing! While the spread wasn’t as big as some of the other places, the chef was exceptional. This was the best breakfast my family had ever had (Hyatt or anywhere else), the club lounge was well stocked, plenty of food at snack and hors d’oeuvre time that you could eat three meals a day here which is what we did. The customer service was next level, my daughter loved the rooftop pool and the gym was very big. My only regret is we didn’t stay here longer.  One of our best stays ever and for only 13k points a night.

~HR Phuket~

Stayed seven nights, booked a standard suite on points and applied my club access award

The property was nice although a little older, which showed in the rooms. One thing I didn’t realize before staying is that the resort is on a steep hill, which gave great views but requires a buggy (golf cart) to go anywhere. The club room is at the top and the gym, pool, and breakfast are at the bottom. So if you wanted to leave the pool for a club drink it takes five to ten minutes to get to the club or if you wanted to work out before breakfast it would be a hassle to go back to the room before breakfast. Not that big of a deal though. Buggy drivers were super nice along with the rest of the staff here.

The breakfast was amazing here too! There was soooo much food and such a wide variety of food too. If you went to snack time at the club they would bring you a fresh fruit plate and drinks, for the evening you could squeeze a dinner out of it, but it was a little hard. The pool was really nice and the view of the ocean was awesome and Hyatt had a little ocean deck you could use, but the ocean wasn’t that great to swim in, and at low tide it was just mud for days. The Camp Hyatt (kids club) was awesome! There were kid’s activities all day long, about half were paid ($15 to $20 USD) and the other half were free, staff there were awesome. My daughter loved the activities and came home with a t-shirt, bracelet and other items she made there. There was a small play structure and slide but it was too hot to use.  The gym was super small, one of the smallest I’ve ever seen. There was a free shuttle into town which was nice. Altogether a nice resort that I would return to, highlight was the breakfast and Camp Hyatt.

Stayed three nights on two FNCs and one night on points. Booked a standard room

I heard feedback from this sub that the standard rooms weren’t kept up as well, but that was not my experience.  The room was clean and nice, good views and decent size. This was another hotel that went up in price after I booked it. I was unable to use my Club access award since I was using the FNC, but we bought breakfast one day so we could compare. The food was good, but less options then the other spots and less “kid” food. There are two malls behind the hotel and most of the time we ate there. I considered purchasing the club access but didn’t so can’t speak to snack or evening time there. The breakfast and club lounge are at the top of the building with great views. The pool was nice and the gym was very big. Staff were friendly.

Stayed six nights, booked a standard suite on points and applied my club access award. Was upgraded to a premium executive suite.

This hotel was the highlight of the trip! This was the nicest room we have ever stayed in, they gave us one of the best suites of the hotel. It was huge, it had two entrances. We were the only room on the top floor and had some of the the best views of the ocean. This property was immaculate too. Breakfast was delicious, snack time was just mango and cookies, and evening time you could make dinner out of it. They always brought some special meat or seafood dish to your table too at dinner. The lounge was in the middle of the property too so it was easy to randomly pop in all day and get drinks and take a break from the heat.

The pool was really nice and there was a water slide for kids. The slide wasn’t as big as GH Kauai but still decent. The hotel had a ton of other kid activities, including a rock wall, a playground with mini zip line and the Camp Hyatt. The playground is in the shade half the day so it was usable. There’s also a kids pool with inflatable toys to climb on/play on. The Camp Hyatt (kids club) was pretty awesome here too. Some cool activities included a water gun battle and a pizza making class.  Most activities are paid (but only $6 USD) but if you have club access you get two free a day (they need to be scheduled concurrently though). The activities end at 6pm but you could leave kids there until 10pm to be watched if you needed to (we did not do this). The beach was next level, beautiful white sand beach and empty because it’s private. It is a bummer though because it looked like the locals only had access to a small strip of beach.

I was a little nervous because I thought I saw a post on this sub that the customer service went downhill, but that was not my experience. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The gym was big too. This was a perfect stay for us. It is pretty far for us, but definitely want to come back!

Had this spot booked but they ended their affiliation with Hyatt before our trip. I was disappointed because I wanted to check this place out even though it was farther out. We ended up staying in two non-Hyatt hotels in Hanoi instead.
