How to help my old husky

Hi, my husky is 15 years old now and has been having problems with his back legs for the last couple of years. Recently, it has gotten worse, he can't seem to lie down properly and sometimes sadly howls while trying to get comfortable. He always runs away when anyone touches anywhere but his head and doesn’t let anyone help him up the stairs.

He’s still very active during walks and is able to run, but it’s heartbreaking to watch him struggle. He’s on medication, and the vet says it’s just due to old age. Unfortunately, I can’t get a second opinion because I live in a very small town.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation and can share some advice?

I'm sorry for the sad post and thank you in advance for replying.
