best thing to buy to prevent anyone breaking in?

i'm a (very very paranoid) 22 year old girl who lives alone and i'm always scared before going to bed. what can i buy to add extra protection to put my mind at ease? locks? door blocks? a barricade? or what. i'm also broke so nothing too expensive please
