Struggling to Afford Homeschool
We started homeschooling our kids (ages 11, 9, and 7) this past year. It is going okay, but honestly I can't afford not to work. I'm struggling to find a job that doesn't take me away for hours. I recently got hired on an overnight shift, but the training is two weeks of day shifts. It's been challenging to try to find solutions, so they aren't home alone. I also feel like they aren't doing enough academics and socializing when I'm so tired from working super early morning shifts. With this new job, I'm going to have to sleep during the day. HELP! I don't want them in public school for various reasons, and we can't afford private.
Edit: Thanks for all the advice and responses! I appreciate them all! My kids do not want to go back to public school. I am open to looking into charter as an option. I also think the advice of homeschooling year round May be the best option. My kids are very well-behaved, and I think we can get past this hiccup. We are also looking into downsizing and maximizing our budget through cuts. Hopefully my husband's day job will provide promotional opportunities or even my new one.
