bpn-sas2-846el1 motherboard compatibility

Hi, I have recently bought a Supermicro CSE-846 server chassis, with a bpn-sas2-846el1 backplane included. I want to use it as a storage server (24 sata hdds). My question is, can I use a Supermicro H11SSL-i motherboard and directly connect the sas ports from the mobo to the backplane? Or do you recommend a different motherboard? Or it is better to use a sas pci card instead of relying on motherboard sas ports? Thanks.
