An anti-love letter to the NHL

Edit2: Lmao the Leafs did, in fact lose their 3rd in a row. At least some things in life are reliable.

Edit: Yes, I know it’s working now thank you. Yes, this is obviously an over-the-top rant, that was on purpose. Yes, I know that I am exaggerating, about the amount of “research” to find where games are broadcasted. Yes, I know the NHL has no control over ESPN’s technical issues, thank you for missing the point.

I really don’t understand why anyone would defend or advocate for this model. If there was a one-stop-shop, I would happily pay for it, rather than sharing subscriptions with family. That is the point. One platform to watch all the games.

Dear NHL,

It’s 7:11pm, I got home from work and hour ago, just in time to put my son to bed. I then think “alright, just in time to turn the game on and watch my beloved Leafs lose their third in a row.” I know they’re not going to try. I know it’s going to make me angry. But they’re still my team, and I still love ‘em.

But no. I can’t watch. Because once again, you have done everything in your power to kill the hockey fanbase. Once again, the app is broken and won’t let me log in.

And you know what, if this was a one-off, I wouldn’t be so fucking mad. But every damn day I have to figure out what fkn app/channel/streaming service which game is going to be on.

Why in the absolute fuck are you the greediest company and can’t just have ONE PLACE FOR ME TO WATCH EVERYTHING. NO. I HAVE TO DO A FULL FUCKING RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT to know whether I have to log into my dads Disney acct to watch on espn+, or my Amazon acct to watch on prime, or maybe I’m just shit out of luck because it’s on NHLTV or I’m in a blackout area.

I want so badly to not have to deal with the headache and hassle of setting the high seas to Japan and watch “somewhere else”. But you are literally doing everything in your power to give no other option. I WANT TO PAY YOU TO WATCH HOCKEY. WHY WONT YOU LET ME DO THAT?

Sincerely, A soon-to-be pirate
