Should Halo be open world or not?

Here's my personal and possibly cοntroνersial opinion: I think Halo works well with a fully open and big map. HOWEVER, I can say that the execution of this wasn't ideal in Infinite. There wasn't enough variety in biomes and visuals in general, which is a crime for a Halo game. I'm exaggerating, and I loved playing through Infinite, but you get the idea:)

I believe Halo should continue being open from now on (depending on the game and how much sense that would make), but it should be made a bit differently, with difference environments and slightly less repetitive side quests.

I can't believe I used the phrase "side quests" for the Halo franchise...

Your thoughts? If done correctly, do you think Halo should be open, or traditionally linear?
