Am I dumb for finding this weird?
I'm a big Devo fan and both of their guitarists (Bob Mothersbaugh and Bob Casale) used the Gibson L6-S. I'm ninety-nine percent certain they bought it just because it was the cheapest official Gibson they could get their hands on at the time. And on top of that the L6-S also didn't sell well, even after Carlos Santana was paid to endorse it. Now these days it goes for thousands and a spudboy like me has no chance of getting my hands on one. This trend of guitars that were undesirable back in the sixties or seventies becoming extremely valuable just kind of annoys me and I'm curious if anybody else has noticed this. I know stuff increases in value over the years, but why are these just now picking up steam?
