Own a dog in Germany

Hello guys,

First of all thank you very much for this wonderful group of people helping each other here. I am currently working and living in Germany for one year now in Hessen. I have recently thought of owning a dog in my apartment. Does anyone of you can help what should I consider first before owning a dog and where can I buy a dog with a reasonable price?
