I finally decided after all these years (I'm nearly 50!) to have a crack at making my own game.
I always wanted to, even from when I was a kid and got my first computer - a 48k spectrum - and started learning how to use "peek and poke" to create graphics inside of the standard character set and turn those into a maze game. I think I was about 11 (maybe). But life went on and I ended up programming "mundane" stuff for a living instead of making that game I always wanted to.
I messing with Unity (seemed the obvious choice after years of c# dev), and have managed to get some basic fog effects (not shaders or VFX I couldn't get my head around it so went with moving a bunch of Rigidbody sprites) and a simple character moving around inside a "spooky forest".
Oh boy is pixel art not as easy as I imaged it would be!
Lets see where this goes eh? Anyone else take up making games later in life?
