Assets vs freelancer vs doing it by myself

Hi everyone,

I am now at the part to decide where to get my 3D Models Assets. After researching a bit, I have one big question: If I look at the asset store I can buy a whole city for several hundred dollars, if I would I hire a freelancer to create a whole city for me it would me cost at least 100$ per model?!

Am I missing or misunderstanding something here, when a freelancer list their prices per project/model? Would I really habe to spend several thousands dollars on a freelancer to get the same, what I would get for some hundred dollars in the asset store?

If so spending 6 montg in time to learn it by myself seems quite reasonable then.
