How long did it take you to ease back into strenuous physical activity after gallbladder surgery?
Question for the folks who have already gone ahead with gallbladder surgery: How long did it take you to get back to 100% physically?
I'm scheduled for my laparoscopic cholecystectomy on June 6, and I'm wondering how long it'll take before I can engage in strenuous physical exercise, lift heavy things, go to the gym, etc., without any significant concern about herniation, damaging the incisions, etc. I've heard that I should be very cautious for the first two weeks, and still be careful for another two weeks after that.
By way of context, I'm a 32 year old man, and otherwise fairly fit and healthy. I had a backpacking trip planned for six weeks post-procedure (planned before the procedure was scheduled), and I'm wondering if it'll be feasible or not. ~25lb pack, hiking 8-12 miles a day, for 3 or so days.
(And this is of course assuming there aren't any significant gastrointestinal after-effects, which I won't know until it happens.)
Thanks!
