Finally got myself a Parker "51"
I have owned many different Chinese hooded nib pens over the years and have always liked them. Some of them which I recall are the Hero 100, 616; Wing Sung 698, 601; Jinhao 51A; and Hongdian C1.
I always wanted to own the pen that started it all. So when I saw a used Parker "51" listed for sale on Facebook, I reached out and got myself a "51" in Burgundy with a 14K gold fine nib.
Right away, I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth capping mechanism. It has a nice weight in hand, even though it's a plastic pen.
I'm quite happy to add the OG Parker "51" to my collection. I have no intention of buying any more vintage or semi-vintage pens, but then again—never say never.
P.S.: I made a slight adjustment to the pen. After watching sbrebrown's disassembly video, I aligned the ink channel of the feed with the ink channel of the ink collector. I don’t know if it will make any difference, but at least it satisfied my OCD brain. 😁
It's a good writer.
