Problem with GEHA election for 2025

I’m an annuitant who changed from GEHA HDHP to GEHA Standard for 2025. I got the email confirmation of having made a change during open season. The email didn’t specify what the change was - only that it would be effective 1/1/25.

TLDR; Did those of you changing to GEHA in open season have problems?

I didn’t get my new insurance cards by 1/1 and couldn’t access them on the portal so I requested new cards. Still didn’t get them today and still couldn’t open or download the cards so I contacted GEHA. I do have the new membership number and plan number, but GEHA doesn’t see my term enrollment in their system and says I have to contact OPM. They also were unable to access my cards on the portal.

The HDHP cost (not Standard as I would have expected) was deducted from my annuity so I can probably argue that I have coverage (in case something happens) but I have to call OPM next week. My annuity statement says my health care change will be reflected in my Feb. statement.

What’s going on? Anyone else seeing problems with their healthcare change? My friend (also an annuitant) who changed from BCBS to GEHA has a different problem (her last name was incorrect on her card) and also needs to contact OPM. I hope we’re anomalies and this isn’t widespread.
