Is Fate/Apocrypha actually any good?
I've read FSN's VN, watched Fate/Zero and read Hollow Ataraxia and loved all three, but the quality of all the side material I've consumed so far, aside from Carnival Phantasm, has been pretty awful.
Prisma Illya is boring most of the time, has one-dimensional characters and only gets worse in 3rei. I assume that in the manga it's easier to put up with a ton of nonsensical plot twists that break the rules of the nasuverse because the art is gorgeous, but the anime's fight scenes get progressively more hideous with each season and it takes me out of it completely.
Grand Order has a pretty awful story (Only played up to Septum) as well, with the only redeeming factor being the humor and a few character moments. The anime adaptation looked incredibly bland and poorly animated for an OVA, and was extremely boring for the first half, before launching into a more exciting but hilariously cliche second half. Still enjoying the game though, especially since the game seems to take itself less seriously after Fuyuki.
As someone who's been disappointed by side material I've seen praised as being great, what can I expect out of Apocrypha? Is it actually good? I'll probably binge the entire show after its finished airing regardless, but I'd like to know from someone who's read the LN. Of course, regardless of the quality of the LN, A-1 pictures will make the anime worse, but if the LN's story is good enough it might be able to carry the show.
