In your opinion, what is the worst year between 2011 and 2017?

I often see these two years being seen as the low points in modern Eurovision.

In my opinion, 2017 is the worse year of the two. Most of the songs just feel... boring to me. This year was shock full of boring pop songs sung in English, which is not inherently a bad thing, but it added to the feeling of the songs being a homogenous blend. Portugal, Bulgaria, Moldova, Belgium, Hungary and Belarus sent awesome songs, but I can't think of many more.

While 2011 was a very weird year, I feel like the songs had a lot more identity that year. France sent an opera in Corsican, Italy sent a jazz ballad, Georgia sent a rock/rap banger (I wish I could think of a more precise subgenre), Moldova sent... something, and Bosnia, Finland and Iceland also sent very good songs. This is a very hot take, but I can absolutely see why Azerbaijan won. Their entry was beautiful.

I'm not saying 2011 was a particularily good year, but in my opinion, it's definitely the better year of the two.
