Does the no sex after surgery also apply to masturbation?

Basically the title haha. I had laparoscopic surgery last Friday and the surgeon told me I wasn't supposed to have sex for at least two weeks. He's not the most communicative unfortunately so I wasn't able to have any follow-up questions. Does that also apply to masturbation or just to penetration? Are there some things I can do with my partner or should there be no sexual activity/ orgasms at all?
