Using FPL Evolution with Solar Net Metering
So I have FPL Evolution and pay $34/mo unlimited charging of my Tesla off peak. I also installed a solar array and have net metering with FPL. If I export to FPL, I accumulate credits that will offset any low sun days.
Without charging the car, running the pool, I'm consuming 4.3kW, exporting 7.1kW
When I charge the car, I'm consuming 14kW and IMPORTING 1.5kW
The car is a 9.7kW load on the system when charging.
But since I'm already paying FPL $34 for the month for unlimited kW to charge the car, it seems that should not be included in the net metering calculation. I'm essentially subsidizing the power I've already paid for with my solar that could go towards other loads in the home. With the car on charge, I'm importing power from FPL and eating up any credits I've accrued.
Does this make sense?
