America will lose its global dominance in the next 20 years, and it will only have itself to blame.

Pretty much as the title says. (I'm a non-American who's lived in and outside America for years)

I understand this is very broadstrokes of an argument and I'm curious to hear which aspect ppl focus on. I'm not talking about it's military might, but rather the global hedgemony and soft power it's enjoyed for years.

To me it seems like it the sun has already begun to set on the American empire as it's respect and power among the global community has already started receding. And I believe it's fully a case of self-sabotage.

I believe electing people like Trump, the isolationist America-first rhetoric and policies, erossion of trust in democratic institutions, the ostracizization of US in the UN and global community over it's constant Vetos in the security council, and their overall support for Israel even now are just some of those factors cause this decline.

What's more? Tariffs, demonizing historical allies and trading partners, pulling out of NATO, insane wealth inequality (with literal oligarchs now) and having a cabinet run exclusively by inept billionaires narcissists (everyone from Elon to Linda fkn McMahon for Education seriously??)

What do you guys think? Will America maintain its position at the head of the world order, or will another super power (or multiple) take it's place as the driver of cultural influence?
