Selfish drivers caught speeding at 164mph - BBC

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqjvz79d079o

164 seems quite quick to me (but the facts seem to be that you'll get away with it based on the two who were checked)

Meanwhile the lady whose son was killed by a dangerous driver (who went to jail) feels that there isn't enough punishment. How could there ever be for the loss of a loved one?

Some fairly poor reporting here of the facts. The graph is wrong (have emailed bbc to correct) as it mistakes desths for casualities. Still 300 seems low to me as all cases where speed was a contributory factor. Obviously 0 is the ideal number of road deaths.

The link below it goes to data showing that a far bigger contributory factor is - not wearing a seatbelt in a car (1/3 of deaths) - being on motorbike (and speeding)

Wearing a seatbelt is not mentioned in the article.

The "speed kills" message is leading to a generation of drivers and wider society who have a distorted view of what actually causes harm.
