Notes From the Underground, Genesis, and Paradise Lost
When I was reading Paradise Lost, I came to the part where Adam was basically saying to Eve "Here we have this great life in Eden. It's literally perfect. Only thing we need to do is to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil." Then, of course, they go on to eat the fruit. After reading this I began to Wonder if the story of the fall is more like a criticsm to the utopia ideal and basically a story version of Underground man's argument against utopias. What do you think?
