Here Me Out: Tangled would have been better (storywise) had the Queen died

Then stakes would be higher. Just for the sake of the narrative. No hope for future heirs. Rapunzel's dad would have been the one who would have had to recognize her based on what his dead wife looked like. Rapunzel would be the only joy left for a downstruck community. The fact that Mother Gothel was her stand in mom when in truth her real mother is dead would be even more ironic and heartbreaking. Rapunzel mother serves no other narrative function besides birthing her. We could afford to lose her and the narrative may have even been more dramatic had the filmmakers offed her. Thoughts?
