Undiagnosed type 2

I work in a remote area with limited medical resources. For the last week I had started peeing every 30 mins. I went to the medics and my blood sugar was 23 mmol/L. Confirmed high glucose levels in urine 3+. No other symptoms at all and felt fine. So they shipped me to the hospital where the jabbed me with insulin and iv’s and dropped me to 9 mmol/L. They got me on metformin 2000mg now.

In the mean time, (4 days into it), ive been monitoring my glucose levels but its all over the place. Im scared of eating because i’ve been reading all about it and dont want to go in DKA. But im super starving and it seems no matter what i eat my glocuse spikes way up to 18-19s. I started taking long hard walks of 15kms a day, which bring me back to about 8-9 mmol/L

I realise it wont stabil overnight but what can I do in the interim?

Any help / guidance please. Im clueless and quite frankly a bit scared of all this.

Still waiting on my a1c test results to come in for the confirmed diagnosis, but i dont think I need it to realise i’ve been living with this without knowing it.
