Delta Policy: won’t help disabled passengers?
Can anyone point me to this new Delta policy where the airline is now refusing to help disabled customers with boarding?
Today, on a second connecting flight, after coming in from an international flight, I asked for help to put my bag in the bulkhead. I am physically disabled in more than one way. I receive accommodations at work and have previously when I was in school throughout childhood and higher education for my well documented genetic physical disabilities.
Asking for help when I need it on a particular flight is something that I have done in the past and I’ve never had stewards refuse to help me when I needed it.
However, this flight the steward told me that Delta changed their policy, and that they’d help me this single time with my bag but in the future, I have to check my bag every time if I couldn’t put my bag in the bulkhead by myself. They cited that the airline “didn’t want the stewards to get hurt.”
For reference, the bag I asked for help with is a backpack that is larger than normal but can still fit under a seat.
Edit: the title isn’t me paraphrasing, I was told by FA that there was a new delta policy where they weren’t helping disabled people anymore or anyone with bulkhead ever. I was directly told that if I’m disabled I have to check my bag from now on and that FA cannot, as per Delta company policy, help me as a disabled person. I was asking this sub if they could link me this new delta policy so I could read it.
But clearly I was given incorrect information from the FA and there is no “new policy.”
