Progress!!

I’ve been anxiously waiting to post here for months!! Not done yet, but we’ve made HUGE progress in about a year. My husband came out of his first marriage with a lot of debt. About $64,000 total which was $20k credit card debt (I took out this personal loan to consolidate that to save on interest) $7k medical debt sent to collections, $15k auto loan, and $7k 4wheeler loan, and $14k taxes. Sold the vehicle and 4wheeler and he went back to driving his wrecked 14 year old car. We paid the medical debt off in June about 6 months ahead of the payment plan and then we started really attacking the Amex in July when he got a new job bringing in significantly more (lots of overtime which has been hard, but worth it). I just looked at the statements and we’ve paid $16k of that $20k since July 😳 All that’s left is my $14k vehicle loan and his $11k tax debt which we’re on a payment plan for. While the goal is obviously to be 100% debt free aside from an eventual mortgage, this $20k loan weighed the heaviest on me and I feel soooo relieved that it’s done and really proud we did it in under a year, on top of other debt. If you’re grinding like us, keep at it. It’s so worth it.
