Why do you think DP has so many fanfictions?

I'm new to discovering the amazing works under the DP fanfiction scene and surprised to find that DP is the 6th most written for under the Cartoons category on FFN. Not only are there a lot of fics but plenty that are a good quailty too.

What is it about the source material do you think causes it to be such a hit for fanfiction authors to explore?

How do other cartoons/media fail to create the same communities?
