3 antennas, one stubborn missing channel
Here are my Rabbit Ears and TV Fool reports
I need to use an indoor antenna in a top-floor apartment. I really only care about getting the major broadcast networks and PBS. In Boston that means WGBH (PBS), WBZ (CBS), WBTS (NBC), WCVB (ABC), and WFXT (Fox).
So far I've tried both this new Channel Master , this older Mohu antenna, and this RCA antenna, all hooked up to a brand-new HD Homerun Flex Quattro. The Channel Master seems a little better but either way, I've had similar results - I'm consistently getting almost everything except ABC. It seems no matter what direction I turn, I can't get ABC. PBS is the next most finicky.
So far I've put all 3 antennas:
- Directly up against the glass at the top of a western-facing window
- At the highest point of a western-facing wall, where the wall meets the ceiling
- And i've tried changing the angle a few degrees at a time where possible
These were my best scans so far, 44 channels with the Channel Master and 46 with the Mohu, both angled at the top of the wall. Everything I want except ABC!!!
Any tips? As I said I'm on the top floor so I can't go higher without going to the roof (which we can't access). There is also no attic. Am I out of luck?
EDIT: Leaving an update in case it's helpful for anyone else. Thanks to u/TallExplorer9 for recommending a 5G/LTE filter and u/Rybo213 for the antenna suggestions. I upgraded to a Clearstream 2Max antenna, primarily because it had a base. Unfortunately, it didn't make much difference in the location where I originally intended to use it (plugged into an HDHR connected to my primary router) - I got all the same channels as I did on the ChannelMaster. I tried moving it to a different room connected to my secondary router, which helped me finally get ABC 5-1. Oddly, I'm no longer able to get the HD version of PBS (PBS 2-1) - I can only the standard definition feed on PBS 2-3. I'm going to keep tweaking to see if I can figure it out. But right now I'm getting 99% of what I want. Thanks again for all the help.
