What's this sub's opinion on Jesus and Christainity? Was Christianity simply created as a tool for control?

There is a lot of good things and teachings in the Bible, but some say that religion was also created solely to control the masses. More people seem to be converting to Christianity than ever before (Russell Brand, Candace Owens, and Jordan Peterson). What are your opnions on Jesus and Christianity?
