Favorite trope

One of my favorite tropes in a story is where a character with no abilities— though not necessarily winning— holds their own against a character much more powerful than them. Sure, you have to suspend your disbelief, but when the writer shows the character using skill, ingenuity, exploiting weaknesses, and taking advantage of the environment, it makes it a lot more believable. Also, the matchup is important. For example, you can make Batman vs. Clayface make sense, but having Batman versus the Spectre makes absolutely no sense. What's your favorite example of a story doing this trope right?
